6. Complexity – How Can We Use Science To Understand Ourselves More? | Ruben Colindres | Tejasva Malhotra | The Experience Podcast
Description
How do people in society interact with one another, is it dependent on an individual or all the people? What causes heart disease, is it genetics or a bad lifestyle, or a sum of both? We’ve often used a “reductionistic” approach to breakdown problems into smaller pieces and put them together. This model is used everywhere – engineering, medicine, computing, finance, society, you name it. But what if this model only gave us part of the bigger picture? What if the problem wasn’t just a sum of all its parts?
Join Ruben and me as we discuss the meaning behind complex systems, why they’re important, and how we’re using them today to understand the world at a deeper level. Ruben is a student at Imperial College London, studying a masters’ in Health Data Analytics and Machine Learning. He did his undergraduate in biochemistry and management.
